BSX self-regulating heating cables are designed to provide freeze protection or process temperature maintenance to metallic and nonmetallic piping, tanks and equipment.

The heat output of BSX cable varies in response to the surrounding conditions along the entire length of a circuit. Whenever the heat loss of the insulated pipe, tank or equipment increases (as ambient temperature drops), the heat output of the cable increases. Conversely, when the heat loss decreases (as the ambient temperature rises or product fl ows), the cable reacts by reducing its heat output. This self-regulating feature allows BSX to be overlapped without temperature upset damage to the cable.
Operating Voltage: 230 VAC

Freeze Protection or Process Temperature Maintenance RSX 15-2 self-regulating heating cable is designed for applications where the Watt density requirements preclude the use of the standard range of winterization cables. The cable is ideally suited for freeze protection or process temperature maintenance applications that have higher heat losses but are not exposed to high temperatures (such as steam cleaning).

The heat output of RSX 15-2 cable varies in response to the surrounding conditions along the entire length of a circuit. Whenever the heat loss of the insulated pipe, tank or equipment increases (as ambient temperature drops), the heat output of the cable increases. Conversely, when the heat loss decreases (as the ambient temperature rises or product flows), the cable reacts by reducing its heat output. This self-regulating feature allows RSX 15-2 to be overlapped without temperature upset damage to the cable.

High performance HPT power-limiting heating cables are designed specifically for process temperature maintenance or freeze protection where high maintain temperatures or high temperature exposure is required. HPT withstands the temperature exposures associated with steam purging.

A coiled resistor alloy heating element (patent pending) provides the power-limiting feature of HPT. This PTC (Positive Temperature Coefficient) characteristic decreases the cable’s power output as the heat-traced product temperature increases and allows the cable to be overlapped during installation. The composite construction of the heating element and fibre substrate, plus an additional fibre cushion layer, provides an exceptionally durable high performance heating cable.

FP parallel resistance constant watt heating cables are designed to provide freeze protection or process temperature maintenance to piping, tanks and equipment. The parallel resistance confi guration allows the cable to be cut to length and terminated in the fi eld with easy-to-use Thermon supplied kits.

FP cables provide consistent and reliable heat outputs regardless of circuit length. Because FP cables are not subject to the inrush current associated with self-regulating heating cables, the need for oversizing power distribution equipment is eliminated.

Cold or cryogenic storage facilities contain products at temperatures well below freezing, 32°F (0°C). Storage of liquid products are often in either above or below ground vessels. Because of the subfreezing temperatures internal to the vessel, freezing of the soil below and/or around the vessel can occur. This, in turn, can result in heaving of the soil and subsequent damage to the structure of the foundation.

The series circuitry of TEK provides consistent watt-per-foot power output along the entire length of the cable with no voltage drop.
TEK cables are approved for use in ordinary (nonclassified) and hazardous (classified) areas.

A ThermTrac skin effect heating system provides a cost-effective alternative to conventional resistance heat tracing on long pipelines by eliminating the need for an extensive power distribution system. A pipeline up to 15 miles (25 kilometers) long can be traced from a single power point. The versatility of the ThermTrac skin effect heating system makes it ideal for temperature maintenance, freeze protection and heat-up applications.

The ThermTrac skin effect heating system generates heat in the "Heat Tube" by the return electrical current flowing through the impedance of the inner skin of the heat tube. There is no voltage or current on the outer skin of the heat tube.

The ThermTrac insulated conductor is the heart of Thermon’s skin effect heating system. This conductor is custom designed by Thermon with dielectric insulation and scuff jacket to meet specific project applications. For freeze protection and low temperature maintenance applications, polyolefin-insulated nickel plated copper conductors may be utilized. Fluoropolymer-insulated nickel plated copper conductors provide superior temperature, flexibility and durability properties necessary for higher temperature applications using the ThermTrac skin effect heating system.
